So They Didn’t Reply. Here’s What We Did About It.

A Recap of Session 1 – The BizzAngels™ Masterclass Series at DTEC

There’s a question I’ve been asking sales teams, founders, and business owners for years:
You went to the event. You collected the leads. What happened next?
And the answer, more often than not, is nothing.
Not because people don’t care. But because nobody ever taught them what to do after the handshake.
That’s exactly what we tackled in Session 1 of the BizzAngels™ Masterclass Series at DTEC last week: “So They Didn’t Reply. Your Next Move.”

The Room Said It All
We had a room full of founders, sales professionals, and entrepreneurs, all of them nodding before I even finished the first question:
“Put your hand up if you have leads right now.”
Every hand went up.
“Keep it up if you’ve followed up with those leads in the last two weeks.”
Half the hands dropped.
“Keep it up if you’ve called them.”
Almost everyone put their hand down.
That moment, that silence, is why this series exists.

The Biggest Takeaways from Session 1

1. Speed kills or it wins. There’s no middle ground.
If you’re not following up within 24 hours of meeting someone, you’re already losing to the person who did. Speed to lead determines ROI. Delay kills deals.
2. Your voice is your most underused sales asset.
Calls are converting at a significantly higher rate than messages right now, and almost nobody is using them. We live in a WhatsApp-first culture, yet the people closing deals are the ones actually picking up the phone.
3. Not all leads are the same. Stop treating them like they are.
Every person you meet falls into one of three categories: Potential Customer, Strategic Partner, or Influencer. If you communicate with all three the same way, you’re wasting everyone’s time, including your own.
4. If it’s not logged, it doesn’t exist.
A lead in your head is not a lead. A lead in your notes app is not a lead. If it’s not in a CRM or a tracker, your follow-up will be inconsistent, your conversion rate will suffer, and you’ll keep wondering why things fall through the cracks.
5. Generic follow-up is spam.
Copy-paste messages turn a human moment into junk mail. The interaction happened in person – your follow-up has to honour that, or the connection dies on the spot.

What the Room Walked Away With
Every attendee left Session 1 with a clearer picture of where their gaps are, and a framework for what to do next. We covered segmentation, follow-up timing, messaging structure, and the mindset shift that separates people who collect business cards from people who actually close deals.
The energy in that room was something else. Real conversations. Real questions. Real honesty about what’s not working.
That’s the kind of training I live for.

Session 2 is a full workshop. We’re going deeper on what to do when leads go quiet, how to re-engage without being desperate, and how to build a nurture system that keeps you relevant between events.
If you didn’t make it to Session 1, you can still join us for Session 2. We’ll bring you up to speed.
